A Naming Day / Naming Ceremony is something that’s completely new to me. I’m always photographing Christenings, so I didn’t think there could be a non-religious celebration as an alternative. Being invited to photograph one was really exciting for me and I loved every minute of Mason’s.
I have known Johnny & his family pretty much all my life, as his sister Alex and I have been friends since we were 5 years old. To see him now with his own beautiful little family is incredibly special. What’s more special is that Johnny & his gorgeous girlfriend Lucy asked me to photograph their son’s naming day. I was beyond thrilled & honoured to be asked to document their son’s day and as it was my first Naming Day I was so excited to be part of it.
Mason is the happiest, most-chilled out 7-month-old i’ve ever worked with! Whenever he sees the camera, he’s smiling!
His Naming Ceremony took place at Knowsley Registration Office in Prescot, which is an absolutely stunning venue. We got lucky with the weather that day so took some photos in the gardens before to the ceremony. Afterwards, we headed over to Birchfield Social Club, where Lucy had decorated the place so beautifully. Lucy chose a nautical theme for the day and with the help of Johnny’s sister Alex, had hand-made all the cute decorations. The attention to detail was simply amazing.
I loved every minute of Mason’s big day. Thank you so much to Lucy & Johnny for not only allowing me to be such a big part of Mason’s big day but also trusting me to capture all the beautiful, natural moments.
“Little child, take this world and bravely sail its stormy seas,
Captain a ship that’s strong, with a map and compass of your own,
Choose a crew with care to fight the monster of the deep
And keep your anchor ready for a haven you can call home.“
